Welcome to the “Asia Laboratory Animal Day Video Special” — a journey into a world filled with humanity and scientific exploration, showcasing the care and advancements in laboratory animal science and technology across Asia.
Laboratory animals have made significant contributions to human health, technological progress, and societal development in fields such as life sciences, agriculture, and aerospace. To honor the contributions of laboratory animals and to promote the principles of respect, humane treatment, and scientifically sound and humane animal experimentation, the Asian Federation of Laboratory Animal Science Associations (AFLAS) has designated November 29 as “Asia Laboratory Animal Day” starting in 2024.
To commemorate the inaugural “Asia Laboratory Animal Day”, AFLAS has launched a series of thematic activities. One of these activities involves inviting AFLAS Member Associations to showcase, through videos, the latest progress in their respective countries and regions in caring for laboratory animals, promoting the 3R principles (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), and advancing laboratory animal science and technology. These videos highlight researchers’ respect for life and their efforts to minimize unnecessary suffering.
Through these videos, we hope to enhance public awareness of the importance of laboratory animals while inspiring further discussions on how to better protect these lifeforms that contribute so greatly to human health.
